Benefits for pets 
Pets often associate carriers, car rides, and vet offices with anxiety. By examining your pet at home, it not only eliminates stress and fear, but also allows our doctors to better assess your pet. Mobile vet care is also easier on senior and fearful pets. 

Like a brick-and-mortar clinic, BetterVet performs a wide range of services, but in the comfort of your home. This includes Wellness and Sick exams, vaccinations, virtual vet visits, and more.

Benefits for multi-pet families
If you have more than one pet, you can combine their examinations into one single home visit appointment, saving you time and hassle. Each pet will have a separate examination fee, but you will only be charged one travel fee for all the pets in the family.

Benefits for pet parents with busy lifestyles
In-home veterinary care is a more convenient choice for people with busy schedules, as well as those with work-from-home and hybrid work arrangements. Rather than having to take time out of the work day to drive a pet to and from an appointment and wait to be seen, we come to you. We even have same-day and next-day appointments in most locations.

Benefits for senior pet parents 
Mobile vet care is a stress-free option for senior pet parents as it eliminates the need to wrestle pets into carriers and into the car to transport them to a clinic appointment.

What pets do you treat?
We currently provide vet care services for dogs and cats in all locations. Select locations do offer services for other animals; please contact support@bettervet.com for more information. 
How experienced are the veterinarians at BetterVet?
BetterVet’s veterinary doctors and technicians are highly experienced in small animal medicine and are Fear Free® certified to ensure your pet's emotional well-being during their appointments. Learn more about the Fear Free® approach.
How should I prepare for a home visit?

Please have a copy of your pet’s medical records, especially if this is your first appointment. To prepare your pet, try to remain relaxed and calm leading up to your appointment, as your pet will pick up on your anxiety level.

Indulge your dog with their favorite toy or treat when we arrive. This helps reinforce positive, happy thoughts with every vet care visit.

If your cat tends to be skittish when people visit your home, place them in a comfortable, enclosed space where they feel safe, like a bathroom or closet, to minimize stress.

Please remember that we have a no-smoking policy during in-home visits and refrain from smoking during your appointment. If you need to take a smoke break, please do so outside.

What should I do in case of an emergency?
At this time, we do not provide emergency services. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, go immediately to one of the 24-hour emergency vet clinics nearest you. 
Should I book a home visit or a video call?
Virtual visits give you quick and easy access to an experienced veterinarian and can provide peace of mind. They are recommended for non-emergent medical conditions and are best for pet parents concerned about their pet but are not certain that the issue warrants an in-home visit.

Does BetterVet provide end-of-life care?
Yes, we provide quality-of-life counseling, in-home euthanasia, and aftercare for our patients. It is never easy to say goodbye to your pet, but we are there for you when the time comes.

Does BetterVet perform neutering and spaying surgeries?
Yes, we perform spay and neuter surgeries in our Conejo Valley, Palm Beach, Eugene, New Jersey, Orange County, Boston, and Austin locations and will expand to other areas soon. BetterVet has partnered with a network of trustworthy veterinary hospitals in your area where your pet can receive these procedures if they are not possible in your home.

How can BetterVet help me manage my pet's chronic disease?

BetterVet provides in-home care for pets with conditions like diabetes or arthritis, especially for those with mobility issues. With a dedicated vet, a personalized health plan is created to ensure your pet's comfort and well-being, eliminating the need for clinic visits.

Scheduling and Appointments

How do I sign up and book an appointment with BetterVet?
Signing up and booking an appointment with BetterVet is easy! You can download our mobile app on iOS or Android and create your account. 

You can also schedule an appointment through our website. Simply create an account, add your pet(s) and book an appointment for the service or services your pet needs.
When can I book an appointment?
You can schedule a home visit any time until 4 PM EST of the day before your desired appointment day. We also offer same-day visits, up to 90 minutes before the appointment time, for an additional fee. Video consultations can be booked up to 2 hours in advance.
Who will treat my pet?
For a video consultation, you will be connected to one of our friendly veterinarians. For a home visit, your pet will be seen by a veterinarian and veterinary tech, or a team of two veterinary techs, depending on the needs of your pet.
Can I select a specific veterinarian for my appointment?
Yes, depending on your location, it may be possible to choose from the list of available veterinarians.
When will my veterinarian arrive?
Appointments are scheduled in a three-hour time block for routing purposes. You will receive an email with a reduced 2-hour window and additional information before the appointment.
How long will my in-home appointment be?
Most standard BetterVet home visit appointments last between 30 and 60 minutes.
Can you see multiple pets during one mobile veterinary visit?
Yes! If you have multiple pets, you can tackle all of their checkups in one single appointment. Each pet will have a separate examination fee, but you will only be charged one travel fee for all the pets in the family.
How do I cancel my appointment?
You can cancel your appointment up to 48 hours before your scheduled time. Canceling within 48 hours of a home visit will incur a cancellation fee of $75. If you need to cancel a procedure or surgery, we will need a 48-hour notice, if not it will incur a cancellation fee of $250. To cancel an appointment, please email us at support@bettervet.com.

Pricing and Insurance

How much does BetterVet cost?
Telehealth appointments are billed at $49 (when no medical prescription is needed), and telemedicine appointments are billed at $69 (when a medical prescription is needed) per virtual visit.

Home visits and examinations start at $195* plus a travel fee (based on your location) and the cost of additional vaccinations, medications, or common diagnostics like blood tests.

*Home visits and examinations cost may vary depending upon your state location.
What payment options are available?
We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. We do not accept cash, checks, or Scratchpay. A credit card is required to book your appointment but will not be billed until the end of your home visit.
Does BetterVet accept pet insurance?
We will gladly provide you with any records or assistance you need to submit your claims to your insurance company. Please let your veterinarian know what you will need at the time of your visit and reach out to your insurance provider if you have any additional questions.

Wellness Club

Do BetterVet offer a wellness plans for pets?

Yes! BetterVet Wellness Club is a convenient and affordable wellness plan for pets and their parents. Our Wellness Club memberships help pet parents budget the cost of vet care and make it easier for pets to get the care they need with a flat monthly membership fee. All Wellness Club membership plans now include unlimited virtual visits and FREE travel fees.

What is the Wellness Club cancellation policy?
To cancel your pet(s) wellness plan, please contact us at wellnessplans@bettervet.com. Per our Terms and Agreements, all wellness plan cancellations will incur charges for the full fees as far as proportional to the services/products the client has used to that point, plus discounted fees. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more information.
Can I pay my annual Wellness Club Membership up front?
Payments for our wellness memberships are based on monthly payments to help pet parents with budgeting and covering large, one-time expenses that can occur with pet ownership. Therefore we don’t offer this option yet on our digital platform. If a pet parent would like to pay the full year costs of their wellness membership, please contact support@bettervet.com.
What is the refund policy for BetterVet Wellness Club?
While you can cancel at any time, there are no refunds provided. 
Can I request a specific payment date for my pet’s membership?
Yes, this is possible. Please contact us at support@bettervet.com and provide your contact information, along with your pet’s name, and we can make this adjustment for you. Otherwise, we will invoice once a month based on your original sign up date. 
What happens if my pet passes during the 12-month commitment?
If your pet passes away, or if you no longer own your pet, you will need to notify us of this change. To cancel your pet(s) wellness plan, please contact us at wellnessplans@bettervet.com. Per our Terms and Agreements, all wellness membership cancellations will incur charges for the full fees as far as proportional to the services/products the client has used to that point, plus discounted fees. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more information.
Can services be substituted in the Wellness Memberships?
BetterVet's Wellness Memberships will cover many of the routine healthcare needs of your pet, however we do not allow for substitutions in our plans of any kind. 
Can spouses have access to Pet Wellness Plan discounts?
No, this is a benefit only for your company employees.
Is there an age restriction for pets in the wellness plans?
No, there is no age limit. Our plans are flexible so that we cover the core preventative recommendations for pets at all ages. The selection of core services in each plan are age-appropriate (i.e. vaccines, routine lab work, etc.), while some may vary depending on the doctor’s discretion. 
Will BetterVet come to the office if I am at work during the day?
Currently our in-home visits are only conducted at your place of residence, where your pet is in a familiar setting, and feels more comfortable and relaxed.
