Puppy and Kitten Wellness Exams & Vaccination
We know how exciting it is for pet parents to have a new puppy or kitten in the house and that’s why we’ve created a vet visit just for them! Our in-home Wellness Exams and Vaccinations are at the heart of a happy, healthy (and growing) pet and provide essential preventative care. We offer all the core vaccines and non-core “lifestyle” vaccines that your puppy or kitten will need during their first year of life.
Dedicated Wellness Exams for Puppies and Kittens
Puppies and kittens need dedicated care. We recommend regular Kitten and Puppy Wellness Exams during your pet’s first year as well as annual wellness checkups when your veterinarian can also provide booster vaccines as needed (for an additional cost). These visits may be more frequent if your pet has a health condition or they need additional booster vaccines, such as when he or she is starting a new vaccine series. Keep your new kitten or puppy safe at home with a mobile vet visit - it’s less stress for you and your pet!
The Importance of Vaccination During the First Year
Keeping your puppy or kitten up to date on vaccinations is one of the most important components of preventative pet wellness care. There are many common diseases that can pose serious risks to your puppy or kitten’s health if they are exposed. Your BetterVet team can bring vaccines to you as part of your Puppy or Kitten Wellness Exam while keeping your pet as comfortable as possible at home.
Below is a list of common vaccinations for puppies and kittens. Some of these are recommended for all of our four-legged patients, while others depend on certain lifestyle factors. Please note that vaccinations are not included in the cost of a Puppy or Kitten Wellness Exam.

What to Expect at Your Puppy and Kitten Wellness Exam
Once you schedule your first in-home Kitten or Puppy Wellness visit, our mobile veterinarian and vet technician will come to your home to examine your pet. Your BetterVet team will talk to you about your pet’s development and determine the best vaccine schedule for them before starting any vaccine series.
It is also common for your veterinarian to recommend fecal testing for both puppies and kittens, retroviral testing for kittens, also known as FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) and FeLV (feline leukemia virus) testing which requires a few drops of blood. In addition, we will also start a deworming series that will continue throughout life to prevent internal parasites, external parasites, and heartworm disease if appropriate for the region (for an additional cost).
