She has been drawn to animals her whole life. There's an animal in her arms or nearby in most of her childhood pictures and memories. She knew from a young age she wanted her life to be closely integrated with animals both at home and at work. She grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2008 and moved to Oregon in 2013. She has worked as a house-call veterinarian during most of the time from 2013 to the present. Dr. Posey believes house-calls are the best way to provide care to animals and most everything, outside of surgery, can be accomplished in the home. Her goal is to reduce the stress of a visit as much as possible. She feels seeing patients in the home allows for a more personalized bonding experience.
Dr. Posey enjoys the adventure of being on the road and the creative problem solving needed in a less structured environment of house-call medicine. Dr. Posey has a special passion for geriatric and palliative care, low stress handling and pain management and finds feline handling in the home especially rewarding. Cats are amazing. In her free time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, hugging trees, gardening, traveling and spending quality time with her husband, Chris, and their 2 dogs and 2 cats, Apollo, Bernie, Zaphod and Yves.
